About Me

I am a 20-something year young woman, living a Beautifully Simple life in the middle of Iowa-aka the BEST place to live!  My husband, Jake, and I live on a small acreage in an even smaller town.  This is HOME for me!  I went to school here, my parents went to school here and my grandparents went to school here.  Oh, did I mention they all still live here too------we are all within 2 miles of each other-----on the same road!  I wouldn't have it any other way!

I did leave "HOME" for a while when I met Jake, (We lived in the "BIG" city! haha)  but after we got married and were looking to buy a house, we wanted to be somewhere that we would want to raise a family for the long haul.  A house that we wouldn't grow out of, in a town that we love.  So, obviously this is where we landed.  Although, Jake didn't grow up in the same town, he isn't too far from home either.

Jake and I met because I was friends with Jakes identical twins wife....who is also an Ashley! Weird, I know, Identical twins both marrying Ashleys, but that's what happened!  I still don't think people believe us if we ever have to both show our ID's somewhere!  Anyway, we have been married for over two years now.  Our wedding was beautiful and HOT! Temperature wise, people.  C'Mon! It was probably one of the hottest days of the summer, but was so worth it!  It was at a beautiful lakeside lodge on a deck overlooking the lake.  Although, we were in a drought that summer so there really was not much of a lake, it was still beautiful.

We bought our home in December 2012 and never looked back! It is perfect for us, and we love it!  Not too much land, but not too little either, and PLENTY of space to decorate...and RE-decorate!

Yes we moved in, in the middle of Winter---in one of the worst snowstorms of the Winter...of course!

We have two awesome dogs and a cat.  Our first baby is ZOE! She is actually Jake's baby as he had her before I met him, but she is a Black Lab mix and so sweet.  She was always an inside dog, that is until we moved out into the country.  She has adjusted well, and LOVES all this space to run, sometimes venturing a little too far!  Our first baby TOGETHER is a Miniature Dachshund named DOUG!  I know, what a name, right?! That would be Jake's doing.  Remember the movie "UP", well the dog that hides under the stairs is named "Doug".  That does not describe our Doug in the slightest.  He is always very excited and curious and would never hide anywhere because he wants you to know that he is here and needs attention! He loves EVERYONE, and definitely keeps our lives interesting!  Our third addition to the zoo we call our home, is our precious little Bella. She is a kitten we just adopted from the shelter about a month ago.  The cats were, get this--BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!  Now, I love a deal but seriously, ONE is enough! She is such a lover and her and Doug are best friends....now.
